Leadership Accelerator Program

BAWSI's Leadership Accelerator Program for Girls through Sport builds healthy habits, self-confidence and leadership through sport with the long-term goal of improving life outcomes and career success for girls from under-resourced neighborhoods from 2nd through 12th grade.

Using pedometers to track their steps, BAWSI Girls race, jump, and hula-hoop through stations of high-energy activities focused on goal-setting, teamwork, sport-specific skills, healthy competition in sports, and leadership.

Coaches teach basic mindfulness techniques to help pave the way for a lifetime of wellness.

5th graders have an additional leadership course and get to lead a BAWSI session!

BAWSI Girls are invited to the annual BAWSI Game Day Field Trip at a local college to see a women's sporting event.

“This afternoon I heard some girls talking about BAWSI. One girl said to another one ‘I am going to be a CEO because I AM BAWSI’. I am beaming with pride but more so realizing that we are truly transforming lives! Everything that we see in the research being played right outside my door very innocently for me to hear. I don’t know where they got the word or idea of ‘CEO’ but I am here for it! Reminds me that we need to use more words like this for girls to gravitate and take ownership! When we talk about girl empowerment here it is! I appreciate [BAWSI staff] pouring your hearts, time, and energy into BAWSI. I know this is more than just a job but a calling! Thank you for helping me be a conduit to bring effective change in young girls’ lives!”
